What you will do
As a Team Leader, Quality Control, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of manual and automated testers
- Collaborating closely with business partners and technical teams
- Championing a culture of quality
- Advancing quality standards and
- Identifying opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements
What you need to succeed
Education
- University degree or community college diploma in computer sciences or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Experience leading and managing a team of QA analysts and automation engineers across multiple Agile teams or projects
- Experience coordinating end-to-end quality efforts, including test planning, test case design, execution, defect tracking, and release readiness
- Experience planning and enforcing QA processes across manual and automated testing efforts
- Experience working closely with product owners, developers, and scrum masters to define quality goals and ensure test coverage of business requirements
- Experience overseeing sprint testing activities and managing QA resource allocation
- Experience driving adoption of test automation, CI/CD integration, and shift-left testing strategies
- Experience reporting on test metrics, KPIs, and quality status to stakeholders and management
- Experience supporting hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance reviews of QA team members.
Knowledge
- Understanding of QA methodologies, types of testing (functional, regression, integration, UAT, smoke, performance), and test life cycles
- Knowledge of Agile software development, Scrum/Kanban, and role of QA in Agile ceremonies
- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g. Azure Test Plans).
- Knowledge of defect tracking systems (e.g. Azure DevOps) and workflow customization
- Basic knowledge of automation frameworks and tools (e.g. Selenium)
- Awareness of CI/CD pipelines and how QA activities integrate into build/deployment processes
- Understanding of compliance and security testing practices (e.g., GDPR, ISO, accessibility testing)

- Leadership & team management – ability to motivate, coach, and develop QA professionals; set team goals and priorities
- Strategic planning – building scalable QA processes and long-term quality strategies aligned with business goals
- Communication – strong verbal and written skills to explain QA status, risks, and technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Problem-solving – resolving QA bottlenecks, release blockers, or cross-team quality issues effectively
- Collaboration – working closely with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, usability, and testability
- Decision-making – prioritizing testing efforts, balancing manual vs. automated coverage, and enforcing go/no-go criteria
- Quality advocacy – championing a culture of quality across the development organization
