What you need to know

  • The intention of this process is to staff 1 term (12-months) position, possibility of acting, assignment, secondment or Interchange and to establish a pool of partially and fully qualified candidates that may be used to staff indeterminate or term positions at NSERC and SSHRC. 
  • We currently follow a hybrid working model. We require employees to work from our Ottawa office 40-60% of the time (may be subject to change based on operational requirements), while ensuring that the needs of people who may require accommodations, are met in accordance with the Duty to Accommodate Directive.
  • This position falls within a directorate that provides common services to two funding agencies: the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

What you will do 

The Change Management Advisor works with teams consisting of people from inside the Agencies, from other government organizations, and from outside the Agencies; and focuses on maintaining the culture while at the same time promoting change. The incumbent leads the efforts of project teams focusing on the people side of change and on changes to business processes, systems and technology.

The Change Management Advisor ensures projects meet objectives by increasing stakeholder adoption and usage. The incumbent is responsible for developing change management and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, for increasing awareness of change initiatives, and for collaborating with solution champions.

 

What you need to succeed

Education

  • A degree from a recognized university in change management, OR in any other field relevant to the position, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • A change practitioner certification (PROSCI) or Project management professional (PMP) certification (asset) 

Experience

  • Experience developing change management and engagement strategies and plans to support adoption of changes 
  • Experience in providing change management advice and recommendations to support decision making
  • Experience leading working groups and facilitate information sessions
  • Experience conducting impact analyses, assessing change readiness, and identifying key stakeholders
  • Experience presenting project updates to project teams, committees, etc.
  • Experience preparing written communications such as briefing notes, presentations, proposals, reports, etc. (an asset)   

Knowledge
