What you will do 

Leads in the requirements analysis, design, development and implementation of application/system software that provides solutions in line with business requirements of the Councils. This position is primarily responsible for investigating, proposing, implementing and advancing business solutions in response to evolving business needs/advances in technology, by utilizing a combination of software development, off-the-shelf tools and processes to construct and deliver on-line tools and services that result in automating business processes and/or improving productivity.

 

What you need to succeed

Education

Experience

  • Extensive experience in the design, development, and delivery of PowerBuilder applications.
  • Extensive experience in the review and use of data models and physical database structures.
  • Extensive experience in identifying and analyzing user requirements, including leading requirements gathering sessions, obtaining sign-offs and providing accompanying documentation.
  • Experience using PowerBuilder Foundation Classes (PFC).  
  • Experience in systems project planning, including estimating resource requirements for development and implementation.
  • Experience with one or more of the following would be considered an asset: 
    - implementing external APIs from PowerBuilder
    - Java
    - Javascript
    - Microsoft .NET
    - TFS/Azure DevOps
    - Web-based technologies
    - Sybase EA Server

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the system development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of application design, and coding standards.
